The
2007/2008 Apex Hockey Pool is powered by MOTOROLA
1. Brent Henderson – Poised, forward-thinking, astute picking
has helped Brent comprise his first place lineup. Good on you Ja….err……ummm… Brent.
2. Steph Mayorga – Our Latino Princess’ pick of Chris Neil
as her enforcer, though critized early, has proven to be a stroke of
genius. Gggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr…Stephanie.
3. Jim Franklin – He was sooooo bitter early in the season that
his inability to think outside of the box and dress Crosby as Enforcer,
had cost him any chances at competing in this pool. A Sidney injured
ankle later and he finds himself in the top 3 and in the running for
a chance to win this thing. Coincidentally, Jim’s favourite colour
is green.
4. Jim Cooke – Seriously? Jim Cooke is in 4th? You’re kidding
right? Wow. I know for a fact this guy picked his whole lineup, himself.
Good on ya Jimbob.
5. Andrew Westlund – Like Brent, I’m not even sure if Andrew
is aware he is in the hockey pool.
6. Joel Macdonald – A perennial contender, Joel has slipped a
little as many have with the loss of his enforcer Crosby. However, he
is the leading Crosby/Enforcer player, and with his return for the final
month, may be positioned for a big run. Joel is refreshed for the run
as well, as he and Gerry just recently returned from a couples getaway
in Mexico.
7. Daniel Perrett – I’m sure you have all heard by now
(from Dan himself) that Dan is in the top 10 for the first time in….ummmm….well,
his life. Congrats Dan. You are the most humble 7th place competitor
I have ever met. Hopefully your ability to “skip” will see
you hold on to 7th with the return of Sid the Kid.
8. Chad Bennett – In the words of the music giant Maroon Five: “I
still don't have the reason, And you don't have the time, And it really
makes me wonder……” No, it doesn’t really have
any relevance to the pool, but Chad really looks like the lead singer.
Google it(Adam Levine). Might have too many injuries to make a run.
Good luck Chaddie.
9. James Vallance – In a tie for 8th place is actually pretty
strong for a guy who was victim of the longterm losses of both Crosby
and Sakic. Both are back, which means Vallance has a shot.
10. Jay Lundgren – “Jay Lundgren is a 10!!” ………I’ve
heard it many times before, just never in reference to a hockey pool.
Other Notables:
12. Jordan Froelich – Jordan hates losing to me in anything…….so
I thought I would point out that he’s losing to me in the pool.
14. Motorola – They are hanging around in the mid-teens. Coincidentally,
when I was in my mid-teens, I had this crazy dream about Demi Moore….but
that is aside from the fact. Good luck Amanda!!!!
16. Glenn Fernandez – The Hurricane’s preseason claim that
he would be the first “…Kenyan-born Apex’r to finish
in the top 20 of the Apex Motorola Hockey Pool…” is that
much closer to reality. HURRICANE!! HURRICANE!! HURRICANE!!
40. Theresa Gardner – I just love Theresa, so I thought I would
mention her.
44. Don Symes
46. Patty Edwards – Patty has dealt with a lot of injuries this
year. Even the players on her team have had some injuries.
47. Jon Myrah – Jonny Myrah…..Though he is 542 points
out of first place, the encouraging thing is he actually is in the top
5 in scoring in March. It’s been a solid 4 days for you Jon.
